A Guide to Belfast for Motorists
Country: Northern Ireland Capital: Belfast Language: English Currency: Pound |
Belfast has a turbulent political past, from being severely bombed during the Second World War to the violence caused by religious conflicts between 1970 and 1990. Today the city has undergone much regeneration, and there are plenty of attractions for visitors to enjoy.
The city itself is picturesque, as wandering around Belfast Castle and the surrounding areas reveal. The views from the castle are impressive, and on a clear day one can even spy Scotland in the distance.
In terms of entertainment, the Opera House and Waterfront Hall stage many world class productions. Belfast’s wealth of pubs housed in quaint buildings has led to many historical pub walks, where you get to stop off in some of the city’s best drinking holes.
